Our Kids Club is lead by our Children’s Ministries pastor, Cindy Olsen. The Kids Club leaders are EXCITED about this year. We expect to have an amazing year with your child. Remember, you are always welcome to stay and watch and approach any of us if you have questions.
Groups & Leaders
Children in grades 1 through 7 are grouped by grade(s) and gender. For instance, grade 5 girls, grade 5 boys, etc. Depending on the balance of children registered, some grades might be blended into one group (i.e. grade 4-5 boys, grade 4-5 girls, etc.). Every grouping of children will have one adult leader and a teen/youth leader; and the leaders will be the same gender as their group (girl group = female leaders).
The grade 6/7 group integrates both girls and boys and as they are our “seniors”, this group may participate in unique activities separate from the younger Kids Clubbers. This group will have four leaders: a male & female adult and male & female youth.
Most importantly, each member of our leader team are volunteers who have chosen to help and each brings their own unique gift to Kids Club. Together, our leadership team makes Kids Club what it is – a place where kids can learn and have so much fun doing it. Every leader is required to pass a criminal record check.
Stuff To Know
- Drop-Off: Our doors open at 6:15 pm and children are invited to sign-in at the Fridge foyer.
- Pick-up: @ 8:00pm; you may enter through the “middle” doors (between the Fridge and main Church entrance) to receive your child(ren) and say goodnight to Cindy / pick-up any notices
- Call Cindy Olsen at 604-512-8018 if there is any change to your pick-up routine
- Shares – children are encouraged to contribute to our Kids Club shares each Wednesday evening. The shares are then used to purchase food and clothing for our homeless neighbours. We hope that this exercise illustrates that our children can make a difference their world.Note – be involved in our community outreach programs. Fraserview’s FUEL (teen program) makes monthly visits to feed the homeless / delivers clothing in downtown Vancouver. Fraserview Church also has “Chili” days where we prepare multiple pots of chili to feed our neighbours downtown. Both activities are hands-on where we enjoy visiting and sharing what we can.
- Kids Club Sleepover – in the Fall, we offer our annual sleepover at the Fridge. The children sleep in the classrooms (in their groups) with their leader supervisors. Before bedtime, there are an assortment of activities such as skits, games, pumpkin carving, Bible lesson and snack. It’s a fun night to stay up late and age appropriate bedtimes are set for each class. Traditionally, the grade 6/7 group doesn’t sleep and tries very hard to stay awake all night! They also help to prepare breakfast for everyone before the 9am parent pick-up.Our annual sleepover is a wonderful way for the children to bond as a group and it helps to set a fun and positive tone for the whole year!*Note – a small fee of $5 per child is requested which covers the cost of a light dinner and breakfast.
- Spring Weekend Camp – while camp is optional, our camp experiences cannot be beat! Everyone at Kids Club is committed to making camp an unforgettable experience. We have leaders with First Aid, and though we have a lot of fun, with safety as a priority. The cost is approximately $100 and we do offer a Camp Payment Plan – pay $15 a month for 6 months with a deposit of $10. Please see Cindy Olsen for details.
- Kids Club Sunday - once a year, Fraserview Church dedicates a Sunday service to highlight our Kids Club. The service starts at 10am and Cindy and our Kids Club are the service! We show the community who we are and share with them what we’ve been learning about all year.Immediately following the service, Kids Club hosts a fundraiser luncheon in the Fridge. Our congregation and visitors are welcome to join our “by donation” luncheon. It is our main fundraiser for the program and monies raised are applied towards our Spring Weekend Camp; these funds offset the overall cost of camp and reduce the individual camper fees. So it’s a very important fundraiser for our Kids Clubber’s. Please ensure your child(ren) are involved in this once a year event and invite friends to join us ! The more the merrier!
- Got allergies? On your registration form, you MUST indicate whether your child has allergies. Snacks are provided almost every Kids Club night.Note – Kids Club is a peanut free zone – please do not send any food with your child; especially any food containing nuts.
- Proper Footwear – running shoes are required for our gym time. Shoes with black soles? We may ask you to sit-out that week – sorry!
