Ok, so after writing application forms, getting letters signed and notarized, fundraising until it hurt, we can safely say that we are ON OUR WAY!
After many teary goodbyes (mostly from the boys) we zipped through customs with a minimal of “looks” from the US Customs officers. And after getting our fuel levels topped up, we applied full power and set a southerly course.
The usual grind through Seattle and Portland kept us on full alert but a pleasant variety of 70’s and 80’s tunes pumped through the speakers. Of course it goes without saying that Tombert’s voice could be heard clearly at all times in all of the vans at the same time.
Having arrived in Grant’s Pass, Oregon, it’s getting time to settle in for the night. And as I write, the wee ones are waxing eloquent in their journals. Ken has burst into song accompanied with his guitar he calls Sam. He’s strumming the classical stylings of Tom Petty.
Everyone is glad. It was a great day. A hot day.
Tomorrow will be great too. And hotter.
chow for now,
Graham

It’s hot at home too!!! Praying for continued safety in your journey.
It is great to stalk the website and see photos of the journey so far! Seeing them brings back amazing memories….
I am not sure if you guys are gonna be in Bakersfield tonight or not (um, someone forgot to bring home the itinerary!!), but if you are, please check over the fence of the housing units to the right of the YFC building parking lot. Last year, the “friendly neighbour” told Jerry and I how he was going to build a swimming pool in the back yard so the youth of the area could use it….he also had really cool stuff hanging outside his house!! If you are going to check it out, don’t go alone!! ha ha
Praying God’s blessing on the team as you travel!!
