Our Mission

Our Mission Statement

The mission of The Fridge is to serve the community of Richmond by focusing on the needs of young people. The Fridge is a youth driven organization that cares about, and believes in, the potential of young people. Our staff and volunteers provide positive adult and peer role models in a safe, positive and constructive atmosphere. Through skills building, mentoring, and support, The Fridge is able to provide a balanced approach to daily living. As a not-for-profit agency, The Fridge's goal is to provide opportunities for indoor and outdoor activities as well as discussions which stimulate growth in all areas of life - physical, mental, social, emotional and spiritual. In co-operation with the local high schools and community centres, The Fridge fosters growth and maturity through outreach, prevention education, training, volunteer opportunities and support to peers. Acting as a facility designed just for teenagers, The Fridge seeks to communicate to today's teenagers that they are a contributing and valuable part of society.

Policy

In order to provide a safe place for youth, we expect some general rules and policies to be followed so that parent/guardian and community confidence can be assured. We seek to be legal, safe and respectful in everything we do. We do not tolerate illegal behaviour that jeopardizes the reputation of our programs and the safety of the participants. Disrespect for local businesses, the neighbourhood, and the staff and volunteers is not acceptable.

Help out

We have a large staff of adult and youth volunteers who provide leadership for our programs. We are always open to new people and opportunities within this community, and we welcome your support. If you have any questions or would like to enquire about volunteer opportunities, check out our programs section.
